Fish, Part I

We have a new favorite book (well a couple, but I'll tell you about this one) in our house right now. Pilot Pups is a regular book (not board book) that simply - no more than 2 short rhythmic sentences per two pages - but with a wonderfully advanced vocabulary tells an adventure story about two stuffed puppy dogs rescuing their friends on a toy train who were inadvertently left outside.

When I saw it at the library, I had to get it. It has airplanes! And puppy dogs! These were Martin's first signs. Surely he will love it!

And he does.

Because of that silly fish in the fish bowl that appears on the cover and probably 3 other pages. (And because it has a "HHHOOOt" tea kettle that the pups must navigate.) He sits there and flips through it at least a couple of times a day, signing fish and saying HHHOOOt the entire time.

Mind you, after it became clear that fish was the new "thing," I sought out a fish book from the library and bought a fish book that I've always like. He could care less. The fish in Pilot Pups is apparently one unique and special fish.

I've renewed it twice; it is that good and that important in our house.
