"You can’t be a graduate student, a statistician, an electrician, AND a girl" ~ Justin in response to my annoyance in needing to cut my nails down after breaking 2 while fishing wire between the 2nd and 3rd floor tresses.
While the last few days haven’t been glamorous, they have been productive and laid back at the same time. I’ve been fixing electrical in Justin’s apartment. For those who are new to reading, we own a multi unit house – when I started school earlier in this year, we moved Justin up to the “attic” space from the downstairs larger unit we had worked on for a year and a half or so. We took out one wall, which, we later found out, had the electrical line for the wall heaters. (Good thing it has been a mild winter in Columbus!) I had just capped them since their current location was a disaster. Over the past weekend, I ran them through the real attic and floor tresses, branched the line properly and everything! I also put in a working fixture in the front room so Justin doesn’t have to use a flashlight to walk to the kitchen when he gets home. We still have 2 more annoying electrical issues (one requires breaking into a wall; the other building a ceiling), but heat and light when you walk in the door seems to have improved things a great deal.
I've been working for my past employer for about 10-15 hours a week during the past month. Essentially, 3 days a week or so I go to bed thinking I might "go into work" in the morning, roll out of bed late enough that if I go to work, it is in afternoon. It has been nice.... I get to see and socialize with friends and mentors, make a bit of money, and keep up my stat skills up without a lot of stress.
In other news, I am excited to see that Mom and Dad have decided to give blogging another try…a big welcome to them. Check out their blog at jriroz.blogspot.com.

Great post Nicolie! Bet your dad's proud of you. I can just see you ferreting around between the trusses. I am impressed. So you must have a long intermission from school. That's good. Kelsey was out today for a little visit and we had a good time. She went back to go to the UNLV and UTAH play at the Mack with Pam. Wonder how that is going? Haven't checked. Love you both and take care.
