Introducing Martin Robert

After 30+ hours of labor, Baby Martin decided to make his appearance this morning at 7:32 am PST in Portland Oregon. He went straight to the breast to feed and has been very alert in his first 7 hours of life. He loves to lift his head and look at Mom and Dad. When he sleeps, he loves to have his hands up by his face just like in the womb!

He is a big boy at 8lbs, 4.7oz, 21 inches long. Of course, he still looks like a newborn - except for his hands and feet! His feet are so big that they don't really fit the newborn socks at the hospital. He has light brown hair thus far with his most distinguished family feature of his great-grandma Marie's chin and round face.

Justin was able to make it to the entire birth process, in part due to a long pre-labor period for Nicole. Renee (Nicole's mom) just missed it. Nicole is doing pretty well... very sore and amazingly only slightly tired. We are looking forward to having the entire week to enjoy our little family before integrating Martin into our sometimes hectic life.

What a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving....with one of the most wonderful, precious gifts the Lord gives to us. We hope your parenting days are as joyful as ours have been thus far. We are grateful to hear of his safe, healthy arrival. Hope the recovery goes well for Nicole. He is one handsome little guy.

Not sure where my first comment went to but here again just want to say how proud we are of our newest little great grandbaby. What a beautiful little boy he is! I just about missed all the pictures and they are wonderful! He does look so much older and so alert. Good job to both of you! I guess I can say to all three of you. A beautiful little family now. We love you. Grandpa Iroz has another boy! How fun is that! xoxoxoxo
