Another update

This week started out so well. I was feeling good, thinking that I needed to get lots and lots done since after this week I really do hit the likely time for baby to come. Monday and Tuesday were really nice - productive and feeling great. Wednesday morning I felt yucky (ate something that disagreed with me and paid for it all day with general abdominal/uterine crampiness) but recovered and again had a productive day.

Then Thursday happened. I woke up, got breakfast, sat down to check email and opened a word document to print an assignment. And nothing happened. just the ongoing "working" icon over and over and over. So, I powered off the computer. Powered on the computer. Nothing happened. After a few minutes, the screen showed a file folder with a question mark. Now, I don't know a ton about Macs. But, I knew that wasn't a good sign.

Sure enough, I lost my entire hard drive. While this would be occasion to cry any time, somehow this event at 37 weeks pregnant nearly sent me over the edge. I took it to the apple store and put in an order for a new hard drive. Then I went to my midwife appt where, amazingly enough, my blood pressure was normal and they pronounced me healthy.

Good news is Apple was quick (got it back on Saturday) and I had a lot of versions of current work out for review via email. Bad news is none of the data was recoverable and it had been a while since I backed up (everyone, go do that NOW. I knew I was due, but kept putting it off and see what happened!). It looks like I've also got a problem with getting Windows back on this computer since Apple switched to Leopard operating system this week. I'm still on Tiger, but the beta software that went with Tiger for using Windows is no longer available. I don't know how to deal with that. Yuck.

So, my momentum of the week was wiped out with this computer thing.

I guess the long and short is now I have to deal with recreating my life. On week 7 of the quarter at 37 weeks pregnant. Bleah.

Oh Honey I am so sorry. I know how awful that is. I lost all our accounts receivables on the office computer. Luckily I had printed one out not too long before but still it was not a fun thing and I'm sure we lost money. I hope you can fix everything without too much more trauma. This you don't need right now for sure.

We will be waiting to hear when this little guy arrives. Our prayers are always with you and Justin. We love you so much. Take care of one another.
