Dyeing Wool

Today, after waiting for what seemed like forever, 2 different batches of wool came in the mail: (1) 97 wool 3 lycra interlock for diaper wraps/covers and (2) yarn that Grandma Stewart actually bought well over a decade ago that Arie had. Both needed to be dyed and quick seeing as I'm 36 weeks along or so and Arie still needs time to actually make the diaper wraps. Good thing I got up this morning and actually got some work done so I didn't feel so guilty for spending the afternoon/evening playing with the wool.

I used WashFast Acid dyes. They are fairly simple to use, but there is a bit of a learning curve. The wool actually soaks up the dye pretty fast, so you can have enough room to stir. The formula for the "light" color is still quite dark. Its a bit difficult to tell if the dark is fully disolved, etc. Finally, the yellow color is far too orange.

Anyhow, the colors of the interlock surrounding the natural color it came in:

And two batches for Arie to knit. (One is Christmas colors, the other mostly blue with a little bit of blue-green since the yellow is just too orange!.)

All if it will be in the mail to Arie on Monday! Hurray!

You've been busy and everything looks great! How fun, I can't wait to see it all made up. I always became very ambitious just before I went into labor. It is very close for you now. We love you honey and remember you always in our prayers. Let us know when this little guy gets here.
