Vancouver BC

Athough it is nothing unusual in this, Arie is taking me to task on her blog. She has traveled and sewn 2 Easter outfits and blogged about both. Well, I may have not sewn even one Easter outfit, but surely I can blog our spring break travels and a blog thank you for the cute outfit from Grandparents E for Easter. Up today is the spring break travel. I'll try to get Easter pics up later this week.

Because we are taking a cruise in celebration of J's parents 40 years of marriage, we had to get Martin a passport. What better way to break it in than to travel to Vancouver BC. I had never been there - even though I've read lots about it because it often shows up in Pacific NW planning lit - so I was pretty excited to see it for the first time. Even though we couldn't justify more than a 2 day trip, it was sure fun to go see the city mid week - even if it was very child centered.

Of course, this wasn't exactly an urban exploration adventure as we - pre kid - normally take. Instead, we stayed in a posh downtown hotel (thanks Priceline) and went to a fabulous aquarium in this great park and watched seaplanes take off and land. Quite frankly, since Martin thinks airplanes are best (his first "I'll pretend to be something" is an airplane! Complete with starting the propeller and the cutest approximation of a drone of an engine), only to be surpassed by fish, this was quite the adventure. It didn't hurt that we had fabulous weather.

And last, but certainly not least, who would have predicted the joy riding in a car (no quarters... we didn't have the correct Canadian change, so it was still) with a frog would bring? So glad we didn't miss this in an out of the way corner of the aquarium by the elevator!
