Martin turned 4 today! So hard to believe. Last night, as we laid down for bed, we were discussing how this was his last day as a 3-year-old. We then listed all the things that he had learned when he was 3:
*Ride a 2-wheeled bike with no training wheels
*Write his name (and most letters)
*Read
*Addition Math
*Count backwards from 100, count by 10s
*Catch with a glove
*Pull the bus string for the stops (he added that one - and it is impressive)
Then I asked him what he was going to learn when he was 4. He replied in his this-is-almost-annoying voice "I will be the same as I was at 3, only bigger."
Today we had a low-key day, playing with a few new toys and enjoying grandparent's company. This evening, we ate a cake we baked yesterday - 6 layers, square, with lost of colored icing (emphatically not sprinkle) colors as circles on top. Then Martin entertained us all with a 'guess how many legs are on the animal' game, taking charge as if he was running a board meeting or classroom or something. At several points he ran into his room to reference a book - this was serious business and we needed the correct answer.
Happy Birthday, Martin. You are such a sweet boy.... lots of energy, always thinking, always learning, and most of the time helping us laugh (and only sometimes want to yell). We love you lots and can't wait to see what awaits you for 4.
