And we are back! From Vegas that is. Where we went to H&K's wedding the day after finals ended and survived the most vicious stomach bug ever. The wedding was lovely, the stomach thing, not so much. I'll have to post more on the wedding later.
Martin turned seven months old yesterday. In keeping with tradition, I thought I'd document his life over the past month. Martin keeps on growing. I still am not sure how much because his 6 month WBV is actually this week (finals and weddings got in the way!). He still doesn't do a lot of full stomach to back or back to stomach rolls. But now he sits up on his own and can even catch his balance while moving his legs some!
His first tooth FINALLY came all the way in on my last day of class, June 11th. His second tooth came in on the 18th/19th while we were in Las Vegas.
Emotionally, he is still just a happy little one. He has developed a little bit of separation anxiety. Not bad, really. He just likes to be touching Mom (and now Papa as he has become accustomed to him being here), particularly at night. He doesn't really care to slow down for changing diapers or clothes. In fact, he has become quite good at telling you that he needs something, including milk where he puts his hands on both of your cheeks and puts his face about two inches from yours and basically loudly shakes you. It is pretty funny. He has developed this awful scream when he thinks no one is paying attention (and Mom is trying to develop some patience with dealing with it). But mostly he just giggles and laughs and smiles. He is even starting to find an excited expression, developed in part because PITA the cat moved here a week or two ago and he finds great pleasure in seeing her and following her around with his eyes.
Martin loves paper. He loves to touch paper, eat paper and even read paper, particularly his favorite books (Freight Train and From the Zoo). He loves to play with blocks, large and soft or little wood ones. He loves strings. He loves to play with his spoon. Visiting the ducks was also a hit.
Martin still likes most foods he eats. But by far, his most favorite food related activity is drinking water from a glass. Any glass (read not sippy cup) will do. Returning to food, pears and apples, sliced or sauced are still a favorite. Oatmeal is becoming more and more yummy. Prunes are good. Bananas were yummy until the Vegas stomach bug hit. Peas are hit and miss. Cheerios, good (and helping his little pincher grasp to just barely show up). A stalk of asparagus is always welcomed. Little pieces of meat and salmon are always acceptable. He had his first strawberry yesterday which was also a great hit!
