Of course, 2 months marks the beginning of immunizations. We went and started Martin's last week. Before we started them, we found out that he is 24.25 inches long and 13 lbs. We had to wait really long for the nurse, so he fell asleep beforehand. While he certainly woke up for the 4, yes FOUR, shots, he went right back to sleep. He was pretty miserable afterwards - whimpering, trouble eating and sleeping, and running a fever for a few days.
Martin started feeling better just in time for Grandma and Grandpa E to come visit for the weekend. It was really cold, so we mostly stayed in. But we had a really nice time.
Updates on things we are learning:
(1) Sleep - the good part of the immunizations is that it destroyed his sleep habits. When he started feeling better, all of a sudden he was able to sleep 6-8 hours in a row at night! Hurray!
(2) Taking a bottle - He has always tolerated a bottle from either Justin or I, but ONLY IF he was starving. And then it would only be 2 oz or so... just enough to satisfy the extreme hunger. But, when we left him on Saturday night for a few hours with Grandma and Grandpa so we could go out for my birthday, he apparently gobbled down 5 whole ounces! Hurray!
(3) By far the cutest thing he has been doing this week is giving kisses. I noticed when I would kiss his cheek, sometimes he would open his mouth, almost to copy me. So now when I kiss his cheek and ask him for a kiss, he opens his mouth, I put my check to his mouth and he makes his attempt at a kissing noise with me and smiles really big. It just melts my heart.
