Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of my family and friends that are reading!

As you may very well know, Christmas in Justin’s hometown starts with Christmas Eve dinner. It is not my favorite; it consists fried smelts, calamari in red sauce with pasta, lima beans, fried cabbage, and zeppoles (a fried roll of yeast bread with raisins). Apparently, if you have grown up with this meal, it is irreplaceable; it always makes Justin VERY happy.

After staying up until 1:30 AM after attending midnight mass, I got up quite early today. I was happy to do so because I was first on the list to call Hank in Brasil. I drew the first call since I am the furthest east. It was really nice to hear from him. Last year, his mission president really limited who and how long he could talk on the phone. Since I was in Columbus, I missed out. But, this year, his mission president is different and I got to speak with him for a full half hour! Hurray! He seems to be doing really well. Its tough to tell in only a half hour, but he says that going on a mission was worth it. A lot has happened in my life since he has left, so there was lots to cover. I think it will be really nice to catch up with him when he returns in August.

I then returned to bed. When we got up, we opened presents, ate Rosalie’s famous coffee cake, etc. Now I’m typing up a few things on the Internet so we can go to Grams and continue the lessons. Robert has a nice dinner planned for later, so I better get going if we want to have any time at Grams before we need to be back here for dinner.

Oh, and I forgot my camera. So, instead of a Christmas picture, I’ll leave you with a couple from the Oregon Coast taken in September.
