Well, the long weekend is over which means May is just about over! I can't believe how fast time is flying by. We had Bob and Rosie in for the weekend. It was a nice relaxing weekend of cooking good food, going to see a couple of movies, going to the bookstore, chatting, etc. We hadn't seen Bob and Rosie since we were in Buffalo last Feb, so it was nice to catch up with them.
Of course, we spent some time discussing our plans for next year with the in-laws. It looks like Justin will probably stay in Ohio. While a few of our church and professional contacts are going to make some calls to people they know in Oregon (and there are a couple of positions Justin is well suited for), I don't think anything will come of it in time for next school year. Meanwhile, THE OSU (which is how I will refer to THE Ohio State Univ as opposed to Oregon State Univ... that is what I get for making fun of the THE in the official THE OSU name in previous years... now it is the only distinguishing factor of a major institution down the street from Portland State!) has indicated they will not only ask him back next year but have offered an additional class which means additional money. We don't want to be slaves to the money, but quite frankly the stability of THE OSU gig is nice.
I have found a place to live in Portland and am working the details out with the girl I will be subletting from. She is taking an academic job in the middle of the country and is nervous about it. Since she likes her apartment soo much, she has decided to sublet it in case she hates her new job after one school year. It is in an excellant location... 2 miles from school, 1 mile from church, grocery, ballet, etc. I think it will work out great.
The great part about this is it means I don't have to do a UHAUL move!!! YEAH!!! The apartment is furnished! So, I think I'm going to quit my job on the 15th of August. Justin and I are then going to drive across the country (being careful to trek through the last few states Justin has not been in!), spending several days in LV and LA catching up with family and friends. Then, Justin will get to spend the first 17 days of September exploring Portland with me before he has to drive back to Ohio.
So that is the plan. We plan on being in LV on August 20-23rd-ish, so if you are around, we would love to see you.
Finally, I am worried about maintaining a little more anonymity as I move into this new phase of my life, so I have decided I need to change the blog address and name. Any ideas?

Good to hear from you again and to know you have all the details worked out it seems. Sounds like a plan. We will be in Virginia the month of July and then probably to the cabin but will try to be at home when you are in town. We would love to see you. Sounds like a fun and busy summer. Love you both.
ps I have a hard enough time trying to figure out passes and names etc etc etc so not any good to you in that departent but be sure to let us know when the big change occurs. okay xoxoxo
